Upcoming Baptisms

1/30/2012 3:57:00 PM

Holy Baptism is the sacrament by which God adopts us as his children and makes us members of Christ’s Body, the Church, and inheritors of the kingdom of God.

The Book of Common Prayer, pg. 858

Baptism initiates people, by water and the Holy Spirit, into the Body of Christ.  We baptize both adults and infants.  We regard the Sacrament of Baptism as Holy Mystery, which means we can understand the meaning of the act without ever fully fathoming the depths of its significance.

At St. John’s, baptism is incorporated into regular worship services on specified Sundays during the year.  Because baptism is the outward and visible action that connects a person to God in a covenant relationship, it belongs in public worship, rather than private ceremony.

Adults and youth who desire baptism need to contact The Rev’d Josh Bowron, 704-366-3034.  Instruction is required.  Parents who desire to have infants or young children baptized need to contact the Fr. Josh as well.  Parents must attend baptism instruction; godparents (sponsors) are also invited to attend.  Below are baptism dates for the first half of 2012.

Baptism Dates 2012

  • Sunday, February 19, The Last Sunday after the Epiphany
  • Saturday, April 7, The Easter Vigil (8pm)
  • Sunday May 27th, The Day of Pentecost (10am)
