Dear Class Members:
During the past months, we have been looking at the New Testament Writings of the final one-third of the first Century. We have looked at issues of Jewish-Christian relationships, suffering, faith and works, heresies and salvation/discipleship knowledge. Now as we work through the Book of Revelation, our attention turns to faithful living and worship with hope in the Sovereign Lord who is in control of history. Having considered Christ's message to the Seven Churches, we are now considering the Throne of Heaven and the Sovereign Lord in His acts of judgment. All of this prepares us for the final themes of the second coming of Jesus Christ and the new heaven and new earth. This means that during the past eight years, we have traveled together from the Garden of Eden to the Heavenly Jerusalem......from the paradise on earth to the paradise in heaven.
I am very pleased to tell you that Michael Simpson has agreed to teach the class for three Sunday's--July 10, July 17th, and August 7th. Mike's theme will be "The Anatomy of Worship" and will provide a broader view of our opportunity as Biblical Christians to enjoy acts of worship and extend understanding of the character of worship. Don't miss Mike's outstanding teaching! On July 24 and July 31, Dr. Fairbairn, distinguished professor of Early Christianity at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, will teach the class. Then on August 7th, Mike Simpson will return to complete the lessons on Worship. I trust that this period --from July 10th to August 7th -- will be a rich time in learning and discipleship formation. I will return August 14th to pick up the remaining lessons in Revelation.
Eileen and I wish you a restful and joyous summertime.
God bless you all,
Robert Cooley
