Adult Christian Formation - Sundays

Rector's Forum / Parish Hall  (The Rev'd Fr. Paul S. Winton)

This is the Rector‘s principal teaching platform. The teaching offered reflects and reinforces the current direction and objectives of the parish. For the Fall Term at St. John‘s the emphasis will be: Christian Discipleship. What is it? How to we practice it? Even though the class is large, there is an opportunity for some questions and some back and forth – in fact – it works best that way. Be prepared to learn. Be prepared to laugh. From time to time there will be speakers other than the Rector – consistent with the program and mission life of the parish. Guest speakers will be announced.

Bible 101: Late New Testament Letters - 10:00 a.m. / Tilson Hall (The Rev'd Dr. Robert Cooley)

For the first half of the summer, the class will study Paul's letters to Timothy and Titus, with attention on lessons that can inform the 21st century church as to faithfulness and "staying the course."  During the last half of the summer, we will review the books of Hebrews, James, I and II Peter and Jude with attention given to right action as a necessary part of right belief, to persecution, and to false teaching.  We will confront the question, "How do we listen to the messages of Paul, James, Peter, Jude and John today?"

Sharing and Caring Group - 11:00 a.m. / Room 230 (Bo Proctor)

This group meets to pray and discuss our individual concerns, needs, accomplishments, and spiritual walk in a friendly confidential small group setting.  The group uses the Cursillo Reunion Format.  Our goal is to prayerfully encourage, support and guide each other.  Anyone is welcome--once or all year long!
