Starving Hunger in 2008 Helps 1700 Kids
More than 200 of our youth fasted for 30 hours and spent the night outside in a "cardboard village" as part of our 30-Hour Famine on Feb. 23 and 24, 2008. Our efforts raised awareness and funds. While we continue to collect donations, we are sending over $125,000 raised through our 30 Hour Famine to World Vision. This money, when matched with a government grant, will provide shelter, education, medical care, clean water and food for over 1700 children for an entire year. While the Famine started as a youth group event, truly it is now a parish wide event. The youth thank all of the members of St. John's who have partnered with them to meet the needs of hungry children around the world. World Vision recognized our student’s dedication and sent a crew of six people from their headquarters outside Seattle to collect photos and video footage of our event. Our students will be featured in the 2009 Famine promotions that will be distributed to over 20,000 churches and schools in the US. See you next year!
