Children's Education

Christian Education for our children, led by Cindy Winslow, Director of Children's Ministry, is a very important part of the St. John’s community. It is strongly supported by our clergy, the Children’s Education Committee, our dedicated Sunday school teachers and many parent volunteers. We are currently using David C. Cook’s Anglican curriculum for Sunday school. It is truly a blessing to share God’s word with our children & youth!

St. John’s Sunday school program takes place from 10:05am to 11:00am each week. During that time, the children and youth (3 years old through 12th grade) are taught about God’s Word and how it can become relevant in their daily life.

We are blessed to have 34 extremely dedicated adults who have committed themselves to teach our children and youth about God’s Love for them. We are grateful to the following men and women for giving of their time, love and talents:

3 Year Olds: Corrine Ryan, Alison Walls and Gwen Sanford

4 Year Olds: Kathryn Smith, Ellen Harrell, Brian and Laura Fenn

Kindergarten: Michele Britt, Joy Litton, and Beth Rushing

1st Grade: Phil and Michelle Sellers

2nd Grade: Hilary Brown

3rd Grade: Terry and Paul Anderson, DeHaven and Rick Taylor

4th Grade: Kristine Goodman

5th Grade: Tim and Lucy Rogers

6th/7th Grade: James and Lisa Roden

8th Grade/Confirmation: Mike Simpson, Kate Hindin, and Anna Weil

Senior High: Kurt and Karen Kottkamp

Please take the opportunity to meet your children’s teachers and thank them for the year ahead!

Crib & Toddler Rooms

For parents of young children, St. John’s recognizes that tending to a toddler during a church service is probably not the best way to find spiritual enrichment! For this reason, we have an extensive crib & toddler program from 8:45am to 12:30 pm, which includes paid sitters, teen volunteers, and parent volunteers. Additionally, we have recently purchased new, state-of-the-art pagers that you can take into the church services and still be in touch if your child needs you.

Children's Chapel

The new Children’s Chapel is a vital part of our children’s faith development as they experience the rituals and traditions of their church. St. John’s offers a children’s chapel during the 8:45am worship service for children age 3 years through 1st grade. This is available on the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Sunday of each month. The children go upstairs to ‘big church’ for a children’s sermon on the 2nd Sunday. The clergy, Director of Children’s Ministries, and parent volunteers lead the Children’s Chapel.
