Saint John's Episcopal Church

Welcome to St. John's

St. John's Mission:
Commit ourselves to honor Christ through service, worship, education, evangelism and pastoral care.

St. John's Episcopal Church offers many possibilities for worship, service, education, fun, fellowship and spiritual growth. Each of us brings our own unique abilities and gifts to God's service. We hope that you will join us as we minister to each other, our community, and the world.

As a Christian community we believe that we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in our community. We strive, with God's help, to engage in significant outreach, including addressing issues of hunger, shelter, health care and evangelism. Please call the church office at 704-366-3034 to learn more about our ministry and to get involved.

"We are not human beings in search of a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings in search of a human experience."   - Pierre Tielhard de Chardin

Announcements

Rite4 feedback and reminder of next date - August 17th
Our new journey in worship together at St. John's has begun. Rite4, our new service, previewed first on June 15th and then again July 20th. If you attended the July 20th service and would like to give us your feedback click here to access an online survey. Thanks in advance for taking the time to do this. We value your input and will listen with grateful hearts as we continue to evolve Rite4 in preparation for the next service on August 17th. We continue to ask for your prayers as we seek God's direction in building this new worship service. If you feel called to use your gifts (whether musical, organizational, relational or any others you'd like to share) contact Tom Shober, Kate Hindin, Brian Silldorf, the Rev. Tim Clayton or Tim McSwain. Click here for more info or navigate on this site to Home, Worship, Rite4.
Summer Adult Education Offerings
July 20 - August 24, during the Sunday morning education hour join the Rev. Tim Clayton for a reading group. We'll read and discuss Timothy Radcliffe's What is the Point of Being a Christian?
Tim Laniak on the book of Hebrews
Beginning July 13th at 9;00 a.m., Dr. Laniak will teach a class Sunday mornings on the book of Hebrews.
Update on the Rector Search
The vestry is fully committed to achieving transparency in the process to find our new Rector. To help maintain open communications we have developed a new section on this website called Rector Search. Regular updates on our progress will be posted here and copies of all previous communications on this subject will also be available for everyone's reference. You can navigate to this page by clicking Clergy / Rector Search from the top navigation or you can click through here or via the links section to the right. We hope you will visit often and will feel free to contact any vestry member with any questions.
Readings
Did you know that the readings for each Sunday's service are available on our site? Click here or navigate from the top tab to Clergy and then Readings.
Please Help Us Update Our Contact Information
In an effort to update our St. John's database, we are asking parishioners to complete our census form (one for each member of their family) and return it to the church by July 31. There will be collection boxes in the breezeway, Tilson Hall and at the receptionist's desk. Thank you.
Musical Prayer at the End of the Day
We will offer Musical Prayer at the end of the day at 9:00 PM the first Sunday of each summer month. Join us at 9:00 PM on Sundays June 1st, July 6th and August 3rd.
Summer Worship Schedule Begins June 8th
Our Summer worship schedule begins Sunday June 8th with two services at 8:00 and 10:00 AM. The Summer schedule will continue with services at 8:00 and 10:00 AM each Sunday until Sunday, September 7th when we return to three services plus Rite4.
