Simply prayer
Prayer. We talk about it all the time. But I'm not convinced that we are all talking about the same thing. I'm going to start a discussion here about what prayer is and isn't. I'll also offer some resources.
First, what is prayer? Here is an interview that might help. http://www.christiancentury.org/article/2012-03/prayer-god-s-work
this is an interview with Ruth Burrows, whose book Guidelines in Mystical Prayer is rocking my world, an is coincidently available in the Parish Shop.
So start your comments and let's discuss: what is prayer?

Prayer is... Hmm. Well, it's a lot of things, but what it surely isn't is reciting a laundry list of SPFs (should-pray-for). It is conversation with God; listening to God; joyfully wallowing in his presence; surrendering to him; crying bitter tears of repentence; offering ourselves to him; singing to him; asking how we can please him and then doing what he reveals; reciting his holy word. I'm sure it's much more than that, but it's a start.
